Thus begins the fannish history of Hulga

I've been a lurker in many fandoms for maaaany years, and I'm glad about that. If I had tried to get more involved when I was younger, my ass would have gotten fla-haaaamed. Me-now would flame me-then and feel no remorse.
So I lurked. My first slash story ever was a Quantum Leap Al/Sam piece that I didn't realize was "slash"--I thought it was just a story about the two guys who found themselves in love. I didn't figure out there was a whole community of people who saw pairs of hot guys as omgsoinluv (as I did), who were "slash fans," until much later.
First real fandom, where I read story after story and watched episode after episode--due South. But what really propelled me into the Internet world of slashdom and fandom was the Phantom Menace, which blew due South from my mind and totally captured my heart. It's probably my first real fan-love, the one I look back on with the rosiest and gooiest memories.
Then I was big into the Sentinel--but who wasn't? The Sentinel was the equivalent of a picture of Scott Baio, Charlie Sheen, a Corey, Jonathon Taylor Thomas, Leo diCaprio, Justin Timberlake, Johnny Depp (pick one) on your bedroom wall; everyone did it.
I've dabbled in other fandoms--Highlander, Smallville, Lord of the Rings (which I can still love at the drop of a hat.) Now I mostly follow Supernatural, Harry Potter, House, Stargate Atlantis, bandslash, and Die Hard 4.

I meant for this to be funny but it came out sappy. Truly the story of my life.
